  • Can we paint our door black?

No. Staining or painting the door black or any other dark opaque colors will void the warranty. These colors cause harm to the wood components by absorbing excess heat/UV rays. This includes warping and cracking. If you choose to proceed with painting your door unit black, please be aware that yo...
  • Can we use a storm door?

The use of a storm door should be avoided. This will cause the production of excess heat trapped between the wood door and storm door which will increase the chances of warping and cracking. Any use of storm doors would void the warranty.
  • Can you provide details on how the door should be finished and the type of finish that should be used?

All exposed surfaces (including the top, bottom, side edges and the hardware cutouts) must be stained and sealed no more than 30 days after installation. Prior to finishing, remove all debris, oils, and any other materials the unit may be exposed to during handling and installation. This is achi...
  • Can you provide the stain colors seen on the doors?

We're regularly asked about the process for staining doors and recommendations for products to use. Unfortunately, providing the brands and/or stain colors seen on our doors is not possible. • Do you offer fiberglass doors?

No, we do not offer fiberglass doors. Our doors are constructed of wood. Our doors are an engineered stile and rail construction crafted of a hardwood laminated veneer lumber core offering more stability and resistance to warping than solid wood.
  • Do you offer installation instructions?

We do not provide installation instructions. It is our expectation that our customers' contractors are capable of installing an entry door without detailed instructions. We do not consider installing a door a project for a novice or homeowner DIY project. Therefore, we encourage you to only consi...

  • On a double door can you prep (bore) both doors for handlesets?

When receiving and inspecting the door you will need to inspect both sides of the glass. The interior of all of our glass options is clear flat. The exterior would be the decorative panel. Please inspect both sides of the glass.
  • We purchased two double doors and after installing them there appears to be light coming through the bottom between the doors as if the weatherstripping isn't long enough.

On double doors you would have received foam wedge pads that were to be installed on the astragal at the top and bottom to help properly seal the door. Without these you might experience this, but it is not because of the weatherstripping. See proper placement of foam wedge pads.
  • What color stains are acceptable?

When it comes to selecting the right stain color for your wood door, we understand that you may have questions about what's acceptable and how it might affect the warranty. Some customers have asked if this is caulk, glue or even black ink. The black material is caulk from the glass unit. The glass units are overpacked with the black caulk sealant for optimal sealing. This can ooze out slightly, but is easily removed. We would not consider this a defect either struc...
